One Thousand and One Nights returns to the Szeged Open-Air Festival
One Thousand and One Nights returns to the Szeged Open-Air Festival with six shows.
Rehearsals for the world musical "One Thousand and One Nights" by Péter Geszti, András Monori, and István Tasnádi have begun last week. The world musical was hugely successful at the Szeged Open-Air Festival (Szegedi Szabadtéri) where it premiered the previous year. In the 2023 season, 24,000 people saw it, and the performances will probably be sold out this year as well.
The large cast of the play got back to work last Monday with director Tamás Juronics. Last week they rehearsed at the National Theatre of Szeged, and this week they will be rehearsing at the Szabadtéri stage at Dóm Square, as the first show will be on Friday, July 5. The story will be staged in almost the same form as last year, with minor modifications that will only make the performance even more dynamic.
The musical, which deals with the nearly 2,000-year-old story combining Arabic, Persian, Indian, and Chinese elements, is full of dramatic and humorous turns.
Please note that the language of the musical is Hungarian.
