Botond Részegh solo exhibition at REöK

Botond Részegh's solo exhibition at the REÖK opened on Friday, October 4. Dr. Róbert Nátyi opened the exhibition entitled Vonal mágia – Line Magic – which will be open until November 17.

The comprehensive selection, which is the result of Botond Részegh's joint work with Dr. Róbert Nátyi, the leading curator of the REÖK and the dean of the SZTE BBMK, tries to represent all aspects of the artist's oeuvre. Thus, large-scale pictures and works previously published in a volume are also displayed among the nearly 120 exhibited works.

The focus of the works is the human body, captured in varied moments, with a sweeping line, approaching abstraction. The overall impression is enhanced by the vivid color effects of the works, the bold lines and strong colors, and the exciting contrasts between the different spaces of the exhibition. Botond Részegh's art is characterized by thinking in series, so the exhibition is also primarily represented by series and series fragments, and sequences.

The chief curator of the REÖK compared Botond Részegh's creative style to haiku: like the typical poetic form of Japanese poetry, the artist expresses infinitely deep content with relatively simple, seemingly clear methods, which is often completed by the use of a strong title. He added that for a long time, the series of exhibitions presenting the works of prominent contemporary artists in solo shows has primarily represented older artists. Still, to the organizers' great pleasure, there are more and more opportunities to highlight younger, middle-generation artists who are also highly respected, such as Botond Részegh, who the art historian predicted and wished a long and successful career.

Botond Részegh expressed that he has a thousand ties to Szeged and the artistic traditions represented here, and he is delighted that after a series of Central European and international solo and group exhibitions, following in the footsteps of renowned artists, the exhibition summarizing his past 17-20 years of artistic work will take place in the REÖK.
