Cultural Heritage Days in Szeged and Csongrád-Csanád County

An open day at the City Hall in Szeged, as well as historic, architectural, and literary walks, building presentations, free guided tours, and craft activities, will be organized in Csongrád-Csanád county over the weekend, during the 2023 Cultural Heritage Days, the organizers informed the Hungarian News Agency, MTI.

Note that the language of the programs is Hungarian.

Programs in Szeged start on Saturday, September 16. From 10 a.m., Somogyi Library joins the event with city walks and a tour of the building. In the afternoon, the lesser-known areas of the library will be presented during the tour of the building.

From 10 a.m. on Saturday, city tours are also organized in Szeged, where those interested can get to know the uniquely beautiful and exceptional works of Szeged architects of the turn of the century: Ede Magyar, Ödön Lechner, Ferenc Raichl J., Lipót Baumhorn, and Pál Kótay. As part of the program, the organizers also offer an insight into the Landesberg Palace on a guided tour of the building.

As part of the program series, the Szeged City Hall will have an open day from 10 a.m. on Sunday, September 17, where participants can visit the ceremonial hall, the so-called Bridge of Sighs, and can go up to the tower.

The Days of Cultural Heritage programs in Szeged will also include handicrafts workshops, a literary walk, a theater and a synagogue tour, university building presentations, and presentations focusing on the most important squares of the city center.

In Hódmezővásárhely, those interested can take part in a city tour, where they can learn about the history of the former and current buildings of Andrássy Street, Kossuth Square, and Dr. Rapcsák András Avenue, and get a glimpse of the changes in the architectural heritage of Hódmezővásárhely in the second half of the 20th century. After the walk, there will be a museum education session at the Tornyai János Museum.
