Pumpkin Weekend at Szent István Square on October 28-29

The Pumpkin Weekend Fest, a yearly autumn festival organized by Szegedi Városkép és Piac, will be held at Szent István Square on October 28-29, 2023.

As in previous years, the event offers lots of programs: pumpkin carving, interactive and stage programs, a craft market, a carousel, giant building blocks, and free face painting for kids. The water tower at Szent István Square — often called Old Lady — will also be open for visitors.

Programs:

Saturday, October 28:

9.00 Handicraft and local produce market opens

10.00 Krémálmoska. Kids' program by Csabai Színistúdió

11.00 - 14.00 Ghost hunting - interactive game for kids

12.00 - 16.30 Pumpkin lantern carving competition, led by Zoltán Doktor, food sculptor, and Olympic and World Championship silver medalist master confectioner. Pumpkins, spoons, and knives will be provided for the competitors.

13.00 - 17.00 Pumpkin lantern making with the Kövér Béla Puppet Theater

14.00 Performance of the Kövér Béla Puppet Theater

17.00 Announcement of the lantern carving competition results, award ceremony

17.10 Parade around the water tower with the lantern carvers and the giant puppets of Kövér Béla Puppet Theater

Sunday, October 29:

9.00 handicraft and local produce market opens

10.00 Csiga Duó concert for kids

11.00 Handicraft tent for kids

14.00 Pasenkó the Clown

15.00 Halloween games: trick-or-treating, balloon dance, apple fishing, and others

The water tower at Szent István Square will be open on both days from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., entrance tickets cost HUF 600/person.

The organizers reserve the right to change the program.
