30 countries finish with medals at the ICF Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint World Championships in Szeged

30 countries finished with medals and Iran won its first-ever gold at the ICF Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint World Championships, which ended on Sunday at the Szeged Olympic Center.

More than 1,100 athletes from 64 countries competed in the five-day World Championships. Hungary, the host of the event, completed its most successful World Championships ever, winning 21 gold, 13 silver, and 6 bronze - 40 medals in total - finishing on top of the medal table.

Poland came in second with a total of 15 medals: 7 gold, 4 silver, and 4 bronze. Germany got third place in the medal table with 4 gold, 5 silver, and 5 bronze, winning 14 medals in total, followed by Spain in 4th, China in 5th, and Italy in 6th place.

As the Organizing Committee stated before the event:

"They are the stars of the future, many of whom will be key figures of the sport in the coming years, some of them already at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. We are proud that these athletes can take one of their first steps with us towards becoming legends."
