Szeged Wine Festival and Day of Szeged Celebration Series 2022 May 13-22

Friday, May 13, marks the start of the 26th Szeged Wine Festival and the 10-day-long Day of Szeged Celebration Series.

After two years, the Szeged Wine Festival returns to the city of sunshine in 2022. During the event, almost 150 winemakers from all the 22 wine regions of Hungary will be present to offer their best produce. Stalls offering gastronomy specialties, brandies (pálinka), and handmade cheese will also be part of the event.

Three podium stages will be set up on Széchenyi Square where jazz, blues and folk formations - as well as star performers - will entertain visitors.

2022 will be the first year without plastic wine cups. Instead, visitors can either buy a glass to take home or one that can be returned at the end.

Apart from the main location on Széchenyi Square, other areas of downtown Szeged will also offer accompanying programs. Klauzál Square will host a Craft and Gastro Square, where in addition to fine wines, mouth-watering food and craft beers await visitors, as well as local artisans with handcrafted goods.

In Dugonics Square, craftsmen and local farmers are going to offer their products, while the stage set up at the fountain will host music performances.

On the second weekend, May 20-22, spectacular concerts await visitors at Dóm Square, with fireworks on the Day of Szeged, May 21, at 9:30 p.m.

On May 21-22, the 21st Szeged Bridge Fair will host one of the biggest handicraft markets in the country, spanning on Belvárosi Bridge (Belvárosi-híd) and Híd Street. At the same time, visitors can get to know local NGOs and their work on Oskola Street.

The 21st Hungarian Majorette Championship will take place on the same weekend, May 21-22, at Móra Park (in front of Móra Ferenc Museum).
