Foundation for Szeged Award Gala: Katalin Karikó among award winners

The awards of the Szegedért Alapítvány (Foundation for Szeged) will traditionally be presented to the winners at the National Theater of Szeged on March 12, during a large-scale gala program.

This year's winners are:

Biochemist Katalin Karikó receives the 2022 Main Award of Szegedért Alapítvány - and will be attending the gala in person.

The Béla Szőkefalvi-Nagy Award of the Scientific Board of Trustees will be presented to Lajos Kemény, dermatologist and academic.

The Gregor József Award of the Art Board of Trustees goes to opera singer Mária Temesi.

Astronomer Károly Szatmáry, founder and head of Szeged Observatory, gets the Pál Debreczeni Award of the Social-Citizen Board of Trustees.

The 2022 gala starts at 7 p.m. on March 12 and will be broadcasted live on the Szegedért Alapítvány Facebook page.


Foundation for Szeged was established in 1989. With the main award and the awards of the boards of trustees, the foundation recognizes the life and performance of those who enrich the national and international reputation of the city of Szeged.
