Béla Bartók Arts Days return to the University of Szeged for the fourth time
The Faculty of Arts at the University of Szeged will host the 4th Béla Bartók Arts Days (Bartók Béla Művészeti Napok) from March 24 to April 1, 2025, the university announced in a press release. This classical music festival, a signature event of the faculty, is organized this year to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Béla Bartók’s death, offering a diverse program of flash mobs, chamber performances, and orchestral concerts.
The festival opens on March 24 with a flash mob performance by the faculty’s Brass Ensemble at Klauzál Square, followed by an engaging music history lecture exploring Rossini’s artistry in the Liszt Ferenc Chamber Hall. The day concludes with a highlight performance — a wind orchestra concert in the Fricsay Ferenc Concert Hall.
Over the course of the week, audiences can look forward to a wide variety of performances, including a concert by the faculty’s instructors, a symphony concert by the faculty orchestra, a woodwind gala concert, and a solo recital by pianist Nicolas Constantinou. The festival will close on April 1 with a special concert dedicated to Claude Debussy, featuring works for flute, harp, and viola.
A unique highlight this year is a collaborative concert involving three institutions. On March 26, students from the Király-König Péter Music School, the GFE Vántus István Secondary School of Music, and the University of Szeged Béla Bartók Faculty of Arts piano department will come together for a joint performance at the Fricsay Ferenc Concert Hall. This collaboration marks a major milestone in the region’s musical landscape, showcasing the exceptional talents of these three leading institutions on a single stage.
In addition to the scheduled concerts, the city will come alive with surprise flash mobs, bringing classical music into public spaces in creative and engaging ways. These spontaneous performances serve both as artistic experiences and invitations to the festival’s main events.
All programs are free to attend.
