Rare and iconic Mercedes-Benz models to take center stage in Szeged this May

The Classic Car Show & Expo – supported by Pappas Auto – returns to Szeged this year with an extraordinary lineup of 150 iconic Mercedes-Benz vehicles, the organizers announced in a press release. Following last year’s highly successful debut, they have curated an entirely new selection – with only a few classic favorites returning – showcasing over 100 years of Mercedes-Benz history.

Visitors can look forward to a diverse display, including classic passenger cars, legendary specialty vehicles, motorhomes, commercial vehicles, and even fire trucks. This largest-ever showcase of iconic Mercedes-Benz models in Hungary will take place on May 10–11 at the Pick Arena in Szeged.

A fresh collection of Mercedes legends

In 2023, Hungarian audiences had their first chance to see 100 rare Mercedes models together in one place. Due to overwhelming demand, this year’s event will once again bring an entirely new lineup, featuring vehicles never before displayed side by side.

"Even for us, gathering 100 such unique cars last year was incredible. The event was such a success that even more collectors and owners have come forward this time, allowing us to present an almost completely new collection to the public," shared the organizers.

Among the must-see highlights:

  • A 1965 Mercedes-Benz W100 Pullman, originally owned and driven for 15 years by a German industrial magnate.

  • The Mercedes-Benz 300SL "Rubirosa", restored by HK Engineering, one of the world’s top Mercedes-Benz restoration specialists. This rare model was named after its original owner, Dominican diplomat and race car driver Porfirio Rubirosa.

  • A Mercedes-Benz W126 1000SEL luxury limousine, which was part of the German diplomatic fleet from 1986 to 1992 before being acquired by a German collector. In 2021, it found its way to a Hungarian collector. Notably, former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl also used this model.

  • A Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, one of the few hundred units equipped with a 600-horsepower 6.2L engine. This model was famously unveiled by Michael Schumacher.

A new addition – the 1st Szeged Classic Mercedes-Benz meet-up

This year’s event introduces an exciting new feature – the 1st Szeged Classic Mercedes-Benz Meet-Up. The gathering will provide a special opportunity for Mercedes owners whose vehicles are not part of the exhibition to participate and showcase their cars.
