Petanque introduction and competition in Szeged

The Csongrád County Organ Transplant Patients' Association held a petanque introductory event with a competition in Szeged on Saturday, August 31, 2024.

The event started with a registration at the Széchenyi Square fountain, in front of the Szeged City Hall, at 10 a.m.

Dániel Szabó, the coach of the Hungarian Federation of Organ Transplant Patients, also attended the event. Before the presentation, he reported on the results of the European Championships in Lisbon, where Hungarian athletes won 6 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals. Champions László Nóvé and Attila Bodó demonstrated the game, while Dániel Szabó explained the rules.

The petanque competition was played in teams of 2 or 3 players, beginners and advanced, anyone could participate. The aim was to get the players' balls as close as possible to the smallest ball. A match went to 13 points. The best players received a certificate and a gift.

At the event, it was mentioned that the association is currently seeking a permanent location to construct a court for regular training and competition preparation.
