Francophone Film Days at Belvárosi Mozi

The 2024 Francophone Film Days is held at Belvárosi Mozi Szeged between March 14-17.

As in every year, the 2024 Francophone Film Days are a great opportunity to present the best of the latest films from francophone countries in Hungary in March, when we traditionally celebrate Francophonie. This year, the French Institute selected films not only from France but also from Belgium, Canada, Greece, Romania, Switzerland, and Tunisia — reads the organizer's announcement.

Of the event's 24 films, 8 will be on screen in Szeged.

In Benoît Chieux's film, Sirocco & the Kingdom of the Winds, the vividly imaginative Juliette and Carmen fall into their favorite book through a secret passage. The little girls turn into cats, and they have to manage separately to find each other again and get home from the Kingdom of the Winds.

In The Three Musketeers: Milady, directed by Martin Bourboulon, Constance Bonacieux is kidnapped before D'Artagnan's very eyes. War is declared and Athos, Porthos, and Aramis are already heading to the front. In a quest to save Constance, the young musketeer is forced to join forces with the mysterious Milady de Winter.

Léa Domenach's Bernadette tells the story of Bernadette Chirac, who, after working hard in the background supporting his husband to be elected as president, expects to finally get the position she deserves upon arriving at the Elysée Palace. This does not happen so she takes revenge by becoming a major media figure.

Four Daughters is an intimate journey of hope, rebellion, violence, sisterhood, and reconciliation, questioning the foundations of our societies. The film is about Olfa, a Tunisian woman, and her four daughters. One day, her two older daughters disappear. To fill in their absence, filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania invites professional actresses, inventing a unique cinema experience that will lift the veil on Olfa and her daughters' life stories.

Note: The Three Musketeers screens in Hungarian, Four Daughters in Arabic, and the rest of the films in French.
