Performance for the youngest audience premieres at Kövér Béla Puppet Theater
Plimplim, a music performance for the youngest audience, will premiere at the Kövér Béla Puppet Theater on Sunday, March 17.
At the play's press conference, director Ágnes Kiss talked with composer-director Danny Bain and the two artists performing the play, Anna Spergel and Tamás Presits. Ágnes Kiss explained that they met with Danny at last year's SZINkópé Festival, where he was playing a concert, and then he also gave a very successful performance at the Theater Olympics. She asked Danny to work on this particular performance because of the special musicality of his art.
The method of creating theatrical and musical performances for very small children — originating from Norway — was first adopted in Hungary by the Vaskakas Puppet Theater. Now all puppet theaters create similar productions in their smaller spaces, especially geared towards children from a few months to 3-4 years old.
The Plimplim performance is twenty to twenty-five minutes long and is centered around sounds and music created with the most common — sometimes household — tools. A thematic game follows the performance, paying particular attention to meeting the needs of the audience. Since such small children are still very easily frightened by strong sound effects and sudden, strong movements, it was important to avoid these during the performance.
Tickets for the Plimplim performance can be bought here.
