Vinkler+Fischer exhibition at SZTE Department of Art

An exhibition entitled Egyensúly és áhítat (ENG: Balance and Devotion), featuring the works of painters László Vinkler and Ernő Fischer opened in the main building of the Department of Art and Art History of the SZTE Juhász Gyula Faculty of Education on Thursday, February 15, 2024.

Not only an exhibition opening, but also a hall inauguration was held on Thursday, as part of the series of celebrations of the SZTE Juhász Gyula Faculty of Education, which was founded in 1873 and is celebrating its one hundred and fiftieth anniversary in the 2023/24 academic year. The exhibition was opened by Head of Department Katalin Marosi D.L.A., Dean Dr. András Döbör, and art historian Dr. Anna Váraljai.

The Department of Art and Art History is almost seventy-five years old, half the age of the Faculty, said Katalin Marosi D.L.A. in her opening speech. The exhibition, which can be visited in the next four weeks, commemorates the faculty's two former heads of department, László Vinkler on the ground floor, and Ernő Fischer on the upper floor.

Most of the exhibited material is provided by the Móra Ferenc Museum but artworks from the department and the dean's office, as well as images borrowed from relatives, friends, and collectors, are also on display.

Dr. András Döbör talked about the name choice — he expressed how good it is that in the faculty's jubilee year, the room will be named after the department's founder, László Vinkler. The dean also talked about Vinkler's career at the University of Szeged and Dr. Anna Váraljai described the work of the two painters.

The performance of pianist Attila Blaho — who played a jazz piece, You Don't Know What Love Is — rounded up the event.

The exhibition can be visited at the main building of the Department of Art and Art History until March 14, Monday to Saturday between 10:00 and 18:00.
