Szeged high school student won youth category of European AstroFest Imaging Competition

Lili Haluska, a high school student from Szeged won the youth category of the European AstroFest Imaging Competition, the Szeged Observatory announced on Facebook.

The announcement names this another amateur astronomy success from Szeged, referring to news from January this year when a Szeged astrophotographer's image was chosen by NASA as the Astrophoto of the Day.

Lili Haluska, a student of the Radnóti Miklós High School in Szeged, is a regular participant of the Szeged astrophysics circle and has already assisted in several programs of the Observatory. She collected her astrophotographic knowledge independently, for which she received an extra congratulation from the Szeged Observatory.

On the winning image, she captured the Horsehead Nebula, also known as Barnard 33 or B33, (a small dark nebula resembling the head of a horse) and its surroundings, which always pose serious challenges to observers. The young astrophotographer received the award at the AstroFest event in London.
