Borko Močević exhibition opened in Szeged

An exhibition of painter Borko Močević opened on January 18 in the REÖK art center in Szeged.

The first Szeged exhibition of the Sarajevo-based artist, entitled "Style as Essence", features sixteen large-scale works. The exhibit was opened on Thursday evening by Biljana Gutić-Bjelica, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Hungary.

In her opening speech, the ambassador said that Borko Močević presented his Self-Portrait exhibition at the Krug Gallery in Budapest last October, and now he is presenting his works for the first time in Szeged.

"Borko Močević is one of the most respected artists of his generation, he is considered one of the most promising visual artists of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The exhibition consists mostly of portraits of well-known and recognized persons of Serbian cultural and scientific life and a series of self-portraits of the artist - said Biljana Gutić-Bjelica, and at the end of her greeting she expressed her admiration for the Reök Palace.

Močević's relationship with texture is constantly changing, the inner struggle, the individual, and thoughts and feelings around him always reflect the restless will to do. The exhibition by the artist with a unique perspective opens up new horizons in the cultural relations between Hungary and Bosnia-Herzegovina since works of art, including Močević's paintings, can form bridges and points of connection between people and nations, creators and receivers, colors and forms — reads the organizers' description.

The opening event was accompanied by live music and a champagne reception. Borko Močević's "Style as Essence" exhibition can be visited on the second floor of the Reök Palace until February 11, 2024.
