Legendary JATE Club reopened at the University of Szeged

JATE Club, the legendary entertainment venue of generations at the University of Szeged, reopened after 3 years with semester opening parties on Thursday and Friday, and a general opening party on Saturday last week. The club, located in the basement of the Rector's Office of the University of Szeged, celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.

The leaders of SZTE announced the reopening of JATE Club during a press event last Monday. Prof. Dr. Gábor Szabó, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation for the University of Szeged, recalled his personal experiences, highlighting that JATE Club was a major community space and a center of student life with lots of cultural events.

Prof. Dr. László Rovó, the rector of SZTE, emphasized that the club is returning with grandiose programs after several years of closure, while Dr. Judit Fendler, the chancellor of the university added that they want the JATE Club to be a venue that, on the one hand, creates a party atmosphere and, on the other hand, is a meeting point for university students.

The grand opening of the JATE Club will be during the SZTE Autumn Festival. According to plans, the club will function as a community space throughout the day and as a party place at night, and will be open daily from 10 a.m. offering a place to enjoy a coffee between the lectures.
