Szeged International Airshow 2023
The 2023 Szeged International Airshow will take place on September 8-9 at the Szeged Airport.
Programs on the first day, Friday, start at 5 p.m. with parachute, aerobatics, and gliding demonstrations, and features Péter Besenyei (HU) with a Corvus Racer, Dr. Martin Graef (D) with an EXTRA300S, the Ocovski Bacovia Team (SK) with Blanik gliders, and Danielle Wingwalker (IT), among others.
Friday evening is traditionally dedicated to light shows, which will be the case at the 2023 Szeged International Airshow too. Among others, an Acrofox demonstration by Pál Hársfalvi (HU), aerobatics demonstration with pyrotechnics by Marek Choim (PL) flying an EXTRA330SC, and a drone show will entertain visitors.
Saturday's program starts at 9 a.m. and offers air shows of Hungarian and international star pilots, paragliders, hang gliders, wing-walking, helicopter demonstrations, and more. On Saturday, a Hungarocopter demonstration will open the row of afternoon programs, followed by Dr. Martin Graef. The afternoon also features the aerobatic display team Haws of Romania, who were also on the program of last year's airshow but had to cancel their travel to the 2022 SZIA due to a health issue. Saturday's program ends at around 7 p.m. with the spectacular flight of the UK team AeroSPARX.
Both Friday and Saturday offer accompanying programs, like the extremely popular Crazy 5K, a giant inflatable obstacle course, consisting of 10 obstacles on a 5 km long course, as well as a helicopter simulator and sightseeing flights with both airplanes and helicopters. Food stalls will offer various street food and drink options.
Contrary to previous years, the airshow will be held on Friday and Saturday, while Sunday will only feature sightseeing flights.
Note that for the sightseeing flights on Friday and Saturday, you'll need entrance tickets to the Airshow, plus the flight tickets.
Tickets and passes can be purchased online. Kids between ages 6-14 need a valid ticket or kids' pass. For detailed info and the latest updates follow the SZIA Facebook page.
Szeged Airport is easily accessible by bicycle and car, although parking can get difficult and overcrowded on these three days. There is a free bus shuttle service (R1) during the event, for the timetable and route, click here.
Note: As a new measure, neither food nor drink can be brought into the airshow area! Visitors can buy street food and various drinks at food trucks inside the event area.
Note: Parking fee is for one time only. If you leave the area with your car and come back on the same day, you will have to pay again for parking.
