Parts of Tisza Lajos Boulevard closed for road reconstruction

Parts of Tisza Lajos Boulevard in downtown Szeged will be closed for road reconstruction until the second half of July. During the reconstruction works, trams are replaced by busses on the affected lines.

Construction works started on June 17, involving the replacement of parts of the paving along the public transport lines — basically the middle of the road — on Tisza Lajos Boulevard between Dugonics Square and Nagy Jenő Street junctions.

Trams No. 3, 3F, and 4 run from Tarján terminal only until Anna kút, from there, replacement buses run in the direction of Kecskés and Vadaspark/Fonógyari út. The schedule of replacement buses can be found at the affected stops.

The direction of car traffic has also been changed in some places, for example, drivers arriving from Gutenberg Street cannot turn left onto Tisza Lajos Boulevard, while drivers arriving from Kígyó Street cannot turn left onto Tisza Lajos Boulevard or drive straight onto Hajnóczy Street. There are temporary road signs to help drivers navigate in the area.

Crossing Tisza Lajos Boulevard on foot at the Kígyó Street / Hajnóczy Street intersection is also not possible during the time of the reconstruction.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area and look for alternative routes during the reconstruction, as traffic jams are expected, especially on weekdays.

Replacement busses will operate instead of trams until June 27

While some of the restrictions will be lifted gradually, the closure of the public transport lane is scheduled to last until July 23, 2023.
