42nd Summer Exhibition open at REÖK
One of the country's most prestigious contemporary art exhibitions, the traditional Summer Exhibition, opened for the 42nd time on Saturday, June 17, at the REÖK all arts center in Szeged.
The best 130 works — selected from a total of 700 applications by a three-member jury — occupy all the rooms, on both floors of REÖK. The artifacts on display include works of the country's most important contemporary visual artists, among others János Aknay, Kristóf Ázbej, Boldi, Alexandra Nádas, Sándor Pinczehelyi, Győző Sárkány, István Sinkó, and Peter Stefanovits.
At the opening of the 42nd Szeged Summer Exhibition, László Barnák, director general of the National Theater of Szeged — which also operates REÖK — and art historian Róbert Nátyi, dean of the University of Szeged Béla Bartók Faculty of Arts and senior curator of REÖK, welcomed the exhibiting artists and visitors.
The 42nd Summer Exhibition will be on display until July 23, 2023. Awards for the best artworks will be handed out at the grand finale, the closing event of the exhibition.
