Árkád Szeged introduced paid parking

Árkád Szeged, the city’s biggest shopping mall introduced paid parking, starting from Wednesday, October 18.

Quite unusually, Árkád Szeged offered free parking for years, which was not only convenient for shoppers but also for anyone wanting to reach the city center.

Since the building is very close to the pedestrian area in the heart of the city, tourists and commuters could also take advantage of the free parking, just minutes away on foot from Kárász Street, Klauzál, or Dugonics Squares.

Not only commuters used the opportunity. According to Árkád, some cars were left there for months, or in some cases, for years.

The shopping mall has 1,300 parking spots and the first hour of parking will remain free. From Monday to Friday, the fee is HUF 200 for the second hour and HUF 400 for the third hour. There’s a HUF 400 per hour charge for any extra hours started.

The parking fees are the same on Saturday and Sunday except that the first two hours are free.

UPDATE: starting from April 13, 2024, similarly to weekdays, parking is only free for the first hour on the weekend.

Updated parking fees:

Monday-Sunday

1st hour: free

2nd hour: HUF 200

3rd hour: HUF 400

any additional hour started: HUF 400
