9th International Nature and Environmental Protection Film Festival in Gödöllő
The 9th International Nature and Environmental Protection Film Festival, organized by the Blue Planet Climate Foundation, will take place at Gödöllő between May 19-21.
61 award-winning wildlife films will be screened this weekend at 3 locations of the Royal Palace of Gödöllő, where wildlife filmmakers, conservationists, and nature enthusiasts will gather to review the best works of 2023.
There are two film reviews during the festival, the International Nature and Environmental Protection Film Review, and the Carpathian Basin Treasures of Nature Film Review. The screenings will be either in Hungarian with English subtitles, or in English.
The International Review has three categories: Nature Film, Short Film, and Cartoon and Animation Film. Works in the Nature Film category are at least 40 minutes long and explore topics of nature or environmental protection, the relationship between nature and man, sustainability and climate protection, as well as scientific dissemination. Short films explore the same topics with the criteria of not exceeding 40 minutes in length. Nature-related drawing and animation films — both for child or adult audiences — entered in the Cartoon and Animation Film category have no time limit.
Nominations for the Carpathian Basin Review were accepted also in three categories: Nature Film, Short Film, and Third Eye. Nature Films cover themes of either nature or environmental protection, sustainability, preservation of tradition, "people in the landscape", and nature, and are at least 40 minutes long, made in or about the Carpathian Basin. Short Films cover the same topics with a maximum length of 40 minutes. The Third Eye category features amateur film productions, even uncut etudes made by phone. Submitted works cover nature or environmental protection, with a maximum duration of 5 minutes.
Various workshops, presentations, exhibitions, and other programs — in connection with water-ways, the central theme of the festival — will accompany the screenings during the weekend.
