Foodpanda, one of the main food delivery services in Hungary, changes its name to foodora on May 1, 2023.

According to the press release of foodpanda Hungary, the name and logo change is the next step of the regional consolidation of Delivery Hero, the owner of the foodpanda brand.

"Our companies operating in the region have grown significantly over the past two years, and at the same time, Delivery Hero's European regional organization has also strengthened. This is an evolutionary step, but it is also financially sound. In order to stay on the well-trodden path to profitability, we had to react to the economic changes of the past 12 months" - said Pedram Assadi, Managing Director of Delivery Hero Europe.

Delivery Hero, the world's leading food delivery company, will coordinate the markets of 8 countries under the foodora brand from the Berlin headquarters. Hungary switches to the foodora brand together with Austria, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia, while in Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark - where foodora is already known and loved - the brand undergoes a significant corporate identity update, states the press release.

The change does not affect the other 16 European countries where Delivery Hero is present under different brand names.

"By unifying the Hungarian, Austrian, Czech, Slovak, Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish, and Danish brands, Delivery Hero can address a larger customer base more effectively. Our goal is for our customers to receive a uniform and unique customer experience, without borders." - added Pedram Assadi.

A subscription program, foodora pro, will be launched soon after the brand change, and offer unlimited free home delivery and exclusive offers from restaurants, grocery stores, and shops participating in the program. The range of exclusive offers and discounts available in foodora pro will be expanded in the future.

In Hungary, only the name changes for the brand. The company, delivering food in more than 1000 cities countrywide, serving over 2 million customers with over 5000 restaurant and shop partners and nearly 4000 delivery partners, stays the same.

Although the appearance of the interfaces has been transformed in accordance with the new brand, the website and the mobile application continue to function as usual. User data, saved restaurants, evaluations or even loyalty points remain unchanged, announced Zoltán Radeczky, managing director of Delivery Hero Hungary Ltd.

Delivery Hero is the world's largest express delivery company, present in more than 70 countries. Launched in 2011 with food delivery, the company now operates its own delivery platforms on four continents — across Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa.
