Goodwill Pharma celebrates the completion of its strategic development project in Szeged

Goodwill Pharma Nyrt. officially marked the successful completion of its strategic development project with a ceremonial event held at its newly built office building on Boros József Street in Szeged. The celebration was attended by key figures, including Ferenc Jójárt, Chairman and CEO of Goodwill Pharma, his wife Mária Kardos, László Botka, Mayor of Szeged, and János Lázár, Minister of Construction and Transport.

The event’s highlight was the symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony on the panoramic rooftop of the new office building – the Goodwill Pharma Campus – marking the end of a project that has significantly enhanced the company’s infrastructure and future growth potential. The strategic development included the expansion of warehouse capacity, the construction of a research and development (R&D) and innovation laboratory, a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical manufacturing plant, and a central office in Szeged.

The nearly HUF 5 billion project was realized as part of the Hungarian Multi Program, supported by HUF 1.767 billion in conditionally non-refundable European Union and domestic funds. During the project, Goodwill Pharma established a logistics center capable of storing up to 5,000 pallets of medicines, built a new pharmaceutical manufacturing plant that will begin production later this year, and developed a cutting-edge research laboratory to expand its R&D activities.

Ferenc Jójárt summarized the company’s achievements and outlined its ambitious future plans. Within a month, Goodwill Pharma intends to enter the standard market of the Budapest Stock Exchange, where it will raise additional capital to support its growth. Among its next major investments, the company plans to establish an herb processing plant and develop the related production structure. He also highlighted a major milestone: Goodwill Pharma recently entered the U.S. market with its own product after successfully meeting the stringent requirements of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This achievement marks a significant step in the company’s international expansion.

In the longer term, the company aims to reach a market capitalization of USD 1 billion and grow its workforce to over 1,000 employees across the group. Jójárt emphasized that Goodwill Pharma is a clear example of how a multinational pharmaceutical company can be built in Hungary from the foundations of a provincial city.

László Botka, Mayor of Szeged, congratulated the company on its successful developments. He highlighted that the office building was designed by a Szeged-based engineer, and local contractors handled the construction. The municipality also supported the project by adjusting building regulations and modifying plot boundaries to facilitate the construction. He further emphasized Goodwill Pharma’s active role in the community, noting its significant contributions to social life, such as establishing the Szent-Györgyi Albert Award and supporting local sports initiatives, adding that Ferenc Jójárt received Szeged’s Pro Urbe Award last year.

János Lázár, Minister of Construction and Transport, also congratulated the company on behalf of the government, emphasizing that taxpayers’ support played a crucial role in the realization of the project. He described Goodwill Pharma as a source of pride for both Szeged and Hungary, demonstrating how local success can be achieved in a global industry. He added that the opening of this new office building proves that, just like Győr, Kecskemét, and Debrecen, Szeged can also find its breakthrough opportunities. Beyond the automotive sector – referring to the BYD car factory currently under construction in Szeged – the city has the potential to excel in the pharmaceutical and health industries. The minister assured that the government is ready to provide all necessary support for this endeavor.

With its sights set on becoming one of Hungary’s most innovative companies, Goodwill Pharma continues to expand both its technological capabilities and geographic reach. Looking ahead, the company is determined to strengthen its position in the European pharmaceutical market and become a global player in the industry.
