The organizers have canceled the newly planned fish festival, which was supposed to replace the 2024 Szeged Fish Festival, also known as the International Tisza Fish Festival. As of now, there will be no fish festival in 2024 in Szeged.

In May this year, the organizers announced the cancelation of the International Tisza Fish Festival. Organized by master chef Sándor Frank, the event was held annually at the Huszár Mátyás Quay. In response to this, another festival organizer, Rudolf Mocselini announced the organizing of a different fish festival, at a different location. According to him, the new festival would have also been next to the Tisza, further away from downtown, at the part of the coast called Foka. On September 6-8, next to traditional fish dishes, the event would have offered several concerts and a handicraft market.

Rudolf Mocselini announced that the fish festival, replacing the International Tisza Fish Festival, will be canceled. Mocselini told a local newspaper that the festival had been canceled because there were not enough Szeged-based service providers wanting to participate. "We received a lot of positive feedback, a lot of encouraging messages, but despite this, the caterers in Szeged did not want to participate in this event", he told Szeged365.
