Belvárosi Mozi screens contemporary Italian films during MittelCinemaFest

The Italian Cultural Institute of Budapest and Cinecittà present the 22nd MittelCinemaFest, an Italian film festival held at the Tabán and Puskin cinemas in Budapest between November 8-16, 2024. Three festival films will be screened in Szeged between November 12-14, at Belvárosi Mozi.

All films will be screened with original audio, two with English subtitles.

Marco Tullio Giordana's film, La Vita Accanto, deeply examines the themes of being different, acceptance, and family unity. It tells the story of an influential couple from Vicenza, their child, and the husband's twin.

Francesco Costabile's second film, Familia, is a harrowing portrait of a woman raising her children alone and her ex-husband. Francesco Gheghi's performance in the film won the Best Actor award at this year's Venice Film Festival.

Gloria! (2024, 106')

Gloria!, which premiered at the Berlinale, is the debut production of singer-songwriter-actress Margherita Vicario, who also performed at the 2022 Sziget Festival. The film tells the story of the talented Teresa, who creates rebellious modern pop music in a girls' school in 1700s Venice. Presented in collaboration with the Swiss Embassy in Budapest, the film won the Best First Film and Best Music awards at the Italian Globo d'Oro 2024 and the Grand Jury Prize at the Seattle International Film Festival.
