Huszár Mátyás Quay will be closed again

Update, 5 p.m., January 11: Huszár Mátyás Quay is open again.

After opening the Huszár Mátyás Quay last Friday, Szeged's waterfront will be closed for car traffic again from Tuesday, January 9, 2024.

Traffic signs at the quay warn that stopping is not allowed from 9 a.m. on Tuesday. Cars parked there despite the ban will be towed away. According to the local news portal szeged.hu, Huszár Mátyás Quay will most probably be closed on the same day.

The waterfront was only opened for car traffic a few days ago, on Friday. During the previous tide, the level of the Tisza did not reach the level of the quay, however, this time, experts expect the level of the river to reach 560 cm, at which the water enters the quay.

Huszár Mátyás Quay will be reopened based on the decision of the Lower Tisza District Water Directorate (ATIVIZIG).
