English Stand-up Comedy Night is back with third season

English Stand-up Comedy Night in Szeged opened its third season with a full house on Thursday, September 21, at Campus Beer & More.

Hosted by a returning comedian, Jeremy Parrott, the event featured an international lineup, with comedians from Hungary, UK, Palestine, Germany, and Australia.

The audience made up of both returning and new guests, could welcome Péter Takács, the founder of the event as the first performer, followed by Michael Smith, sharing his experiences as an Englishman living in Hungary. Hamid Abu Yunis was the last performer of the first part of the evening, shedding some light on the rare example of being Palestinian-Hungarian.

After the break, returning comedian Dávid Kovács Rezsuk took to the stage, followed by Aniko Cerne, a Hungarian born in Germany. Australia's Ed Ferris closed the evening with insights about living in Kecskemét and his relationship with Hungarian’s all-time favorite street food, the lángos.

“It was a good start to the season, we had nearly full house” organizer and comedian Péter Takács said after the event. Péter also added that they plan one event per month: the next will be an open mic, the following a comedy night, then again an open mic, and so on.

If possible, they would like to reintroduce the honesty box system - just like when Stand-up Comedy Szeged started - so that instead of having to buy tickets, guests can give donations after the show.
