The 29th Szeged International Folk Dance Festival, with the participation of dance groups from Slovakia, Serbia, Turkey, Albania, and Hungary, will be held between July 12 and 16.

Organized every second year, the Szeged International Folk Dance Festival has been taking place in downtown Szeged since 1966. Since 2009, the Szeged International Folk Dance Festival Foundation has been organizing the event on behalf of the Szeged municipality, interchangeably with the Martin György Folk Dance Festival, which is held every two years between the International Folk Dance Festivals.

This year, the festival will have seven public programs, including a parade with folk dance, an opening ceremony at Dugonics Square, a folklore evening at Kisszínház, guest performances in various cultural centers, and a gala in the National Theatre of Szeged.

On Thursday, July 13, the festival parade starts at 5:30 p.m. from Széchenyi Square to Kárász Street and finally to Dugonics Square, where the opening ceremony begins at 6 p.m. with music and folk dance. On the same day, the ensembles will present their program during a Folklore Night at Kisszínház, starting at 8 p.m. Admission for the Folklore Night is free, but tickets are required. Tickets can be requested at the IH Event Center (or at the venue before the performance if tickets are still available).

On Friday, July 14, the foreign folk dance groups will visit four cultural centers in Szeged, where they will give a one-hour show starting at 6 p.m.

On Saturday, July 15, the Szeged International Folk Dance Festival will end with a gala show at the National Theater of Szeged from 7 p.m. Admission is free, but tickets are required. Tickets can be requested at the IH Events Center (or at the venue before the performance if tickets are still available).
