New bike shop opened in downtown Szeged

A new bike shop, called Vasparipa, opened in the heart of Szeged on Monday, April 3. Vasparipa is one of the nicknames for bicycle in Hungarian and literally translates to "iron steed".

The small family business on Híd Street is run by the owners Áron and Évi, a young local couple. While Évi is responsible for marketing and PR, Áron works at the shop, accompanied by his friend and long-time colleague Tomi.

"The concept was to create a space with a fresh vibe and a family atmosphere, that can serve as a base for the biker community" - Évi told Szegedify. "We are planning to use the gallery of the shop as a community space, with second-hand bike fairs every month, and temporary exhibitions by local artists. The first used bike fair will be on this Saturday, April 8."

Apart from selling new bikes and accessories, Vasparipa offers 24-hour express service, and immediate service for smaller tasks like repairing punctures and adjusting brakes and gear. Bike rental is just being introduced. The shop offers students a 20% discount on repair fees.
