Piano Day 2023 in Szeged

Piano Day was held in Szeged for the first time over the weekend. The audience could take part in three free concerts, organized by musician-composer Tamás Vághy, at Szent-Györgyi Albert Agóra on April 1, 2023.

Nuage Project opened the event with their sophisticated, lyrical alternative songs. As composer Marc Charmet and vocalist Ildi Ferencz both come from completely different musical genres - including contemporary, alternative, pop, and rock - their music ranges from ambient to electronic style, creating a sensitive and sophisticated mood.

Up next, Andor Csécsi took to the stage with his music project Wave of Sound, featuring piano compositions inspired by personal memories and the beauty of nature, and based on modern-classical and ambient music styles. Multi-instrumental loop musician, film composer, and producer Rebecca Gálfalvi - also known as Arulei - accompanied him on the violin.

The last performance was a concert by classically trained pianist-composer, Tamás Vághy, keyboard player of the Hungarian rock band Anna and the Barbies, and the organizer of Piano Day in Budapest. Tamás played songs from his experimental solo project vaghy, where electronic and vintage effects accompany a central instrument, the piano.

Piano Day, now a worldwide event, was brought to life by Nils Frahm in 2015. It takes place each year on the 88th day, referring to the 88 keys of the traditional piano, and celebrates the instrument, the composers, the musicians, and all piano lovers all over the world.
