Gastronomy festival season starts this weekend with Toros Pálinkafesztivál

The 2023 Szeged gastronomy festival season starts this weekend with the usual Toros Pálinkafesztivál.

The 12th Toros Pálinkafesztivál will take place between March 23 and 26 at Dóm Square. This weekend focuses on two typical gastronomy elements of the end-of-winter season: pálinka, the traditional Hungarian spirit, and "toros" food, the typical meals prepared after a pig slaughter.

Apart from the different food and drink stalls, various kids and family programs, and concerts await visitors.

A traditional slaughtering competition will take place on Saturday morning, starting at 7 a.m. On Sunday, from 10 a.m., participants of the stuffed cabbage cooking contest will compete with their best and most treasured recipes.

In an attempt to bring local alternative artists closer to the event, a graffiti competition will take place on Thursday and Friday afternoons.
