Marco Rossi's whistle exhibited in Szeged
Marco Rossi, the captain of the Hungarian national men's football team, visited the Hetedhét Hungarikon exhibition with his wife at the Fekete ház in Szeged. The captain not only paid a visit but also gifted his whistle to the collection showcasing the relics of famous Hungarians.
Painter László Ördögh created a picture of Rossi with the help of artificial intelligence. The captain's whistle was hung onto the picture to form an installation, which is now placed next to the relics of the Hungarian Golden Team (Aranycsapat).
"I never hoped that my portrait would be presented in the company of the members of the Golden Team. It is a huge honor to be here, because these players, for example, Puskás or Grosics, were all role models and still are in Hungary to this day. Now I still feel that this recognition is too much, maybe I don't even deserve it, but I am very proud of it." Rossi told reporters after his picture and whistle was hung on the wall.
The former Italian soccer player has been the captain of the Hungarian national team since June 2018. Under Rossi's leadership, the national team qualified for the 2021 European Championship, finished second in one of the groups of Division A of the Nations League and is still undefeated this year. Marco Rossi took the Hungarian citizenship oath on Tuesday this week.
The Hetedhét Hungarikon exhibition features relics like the cape of the late water polo player Tibor Benedek, the boxing gloves of László Papp, the soccer shoes of the legendary Golden Team member Ferenc Puskás, the swimsuit of Krisztina Egerszegi, Ernő Rubik's cube, and John Lennon's tie, among others.
The exhibition can be visited at the Fekete ház in Szeged until December 31, 2023.
