National Higher Education Academic Year Opening Ceremony at the University of Szeged

In the 2022/2023 academic year, 6,667 freshmen begin their studies at the University of Szeged. The university students were greeted on Thursday, September 1, at the academic year-opening senate meeting of SZTE held at the József Attila Department of Education and Information Center, which was also the opening ceremony of the national higher education academic year.

Prof. Dr. László Rovó, rector of the University of Szeged, János Csák, the minister responsible for culture and innovation, and Prof. Dr. Gábor Szabó, chairman of the board of trustees of the Foundation for the University of Szeged, gave speeches at the ceremony. In accordance with the traditions of the opening ceremonies of the academic year, the first-year students took an oath in front of the Senate and the Faculty. The freshmen were welcomed by Tamás Ábrahám, the president of the Student Union of SZTE.

Awards were presented in recognition of the teaching, research, healing, scientific, and publication activities and outstanding performance in the education of the younger generation.

The freshmen's oath ceremony of the international students of SZTE will be held at Dugonics Square, in front of the Rector's Office, on Friday, September 2.
