An open-air exhibition featuring awardees of the 40th Hungarian Press Photo Competition has opened in Szeged.

Two hundred and forty-five photographers applied for the competition with 2,305 entries - a total of 5,810 images - all taken in 2021. A selection of award-winning images - unique entries and photo series - can be visited for free at Klauzál Square until December 12.

The Hungarian Press Photo Competition and Exhibition, organized by the National Association of Hungarian Journalists (MÚOSZ), has served in the last 40 years as the largest showcase of photojournalism in Hungary. This year's awarded photos documented various topics in the country and abroad, including social, health, and environmental issues, as well as sports, news, and everyday life.

From the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic to the struggle of the border guards in the South of Hungary to the outstanding achievements of a para swimmer and more, visitors of the exhibition can get a comprehensive picture of the defining events, as well as some outstanding personal stories of last year.

All descriptions at the exhibition are bilingual, describing the images and the stories behind them in Hungarian and English.
