Batik Day at SZTE Faculty of Education

Batik Day, an event celebrating the batik heritage of Indonesia will take place on Thursday, October 6, at the SZTE Faculty of Education. The program, organized by Indonesian students currently studying in Szeged, features a singing performance, a flashmob dance, a workshop about how to wear Kain Batik, and a fashion show.

During the event, visitors can try Indonesian food, or explore the souvenir booth and the batik try-on booth to learn how to wear batik pieces.

"Since October 2, 2009, batik has been registered in UNESCO's Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. Since then, every October 2 is celebrated as National Batik Day in Indonesia. Batik has been part of daily life not only as fashion but a long-lasting trend. As it is part of our pride, it is within our duty to preserve and promote batik to all corners of the world!" - reads the announcement of IISMA - Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards.

This is a free event, starting at 1 pm and ending at 4 pm.
