2022 Budapest-Bamako Rally: pre-start meet with Szeged-based KAM Home team and Radio88

Those interested can meet KAM Home Goes 2 Bamako, a Szeged-based charity team, on the morning of the Budapest-Bamako Rally's start, October 21, at Bárka Szeged. Rádió88 will accompany them at the venue under Belvárosi Bridge (next to Móra Ferenc Museum) to broadcast live while the guys, Kamilló Muráti and Bence Botyánszki, say farewell to Szeged, before starting out on a 10,000 km-long trip through Europe and Africa.

The Budapest-Bamako is a minimal-assistance adventure, orientation, and charity race, and a tribute to the legendary Paris-Dakar Rally. It is an amateur rally and can be joined by anyone, with any type of vehicle. The Budapest-Bamako is held every two years, and in 2022, after two canceled starts due to the pandemic, will arrive at Freetown, Sierra Leone, instead of Bamako, Mali.

The Szeged-based charity team will bring several small-sized children's glasses to Africa, a donation provided by an optics shop in Szeged. Kamilló, the captain of the KAM Home Goes 2 Bamako team, told us in an interview that if the condition of the car allows, they will drive it back home and continue their charity actions throughout Hungary with it.

Our report on the success of the Saint Francis Day picnic, the latest charity event in Szeged in which the KAM Home team participated, can be found here.

Time of event: Friday, October 21, 7-8 a.m.
