Szeged’s twin towns and sister cities
The term twin town or sister city refers to a kind of legal or social agreement between two cities in different countries. Twin town is a term used mainly in Europe, while sister city is more common in other parts of the world.
This type of formal relationship promotes cultural and commercial ties between two politically and geographically distinct cities. To this date, Szeged has 17 twin towns (see list below).

Some of the trams in Szeged bear the name of a twin town, like Kotor, Toledo, or Nice (written Nizza in Hungarian), marking an anniversary between the cities.
