Breast cancer photo exhibition at Kiss Kunszt Gallery
Egy élet – két csoda (ENG: One Life – Two Miracles), a photo exhibition about mothers affected by breast cancer opened at the Kiss Kunszt Gallery in Szeged.
The photo exhibition presents 18 women, mostly under the age of 40, who were diagnosed with the disease during pregnancy or who decided to have children just after the disease. They have all taken up the fight against cancer and wanted to set an example and give strength to their peers through their own example.
The exhibited photographs were taken by Árpád Csikós and Tamás Dombovári.
At the opening, on behalf of the Mellrákinfó Association, Ági Nagy, and later Dr. Alíz Nikolényi and Prof. Dr. Zsuzsanna Kahán, doctors of the SZTE Oncology Clinic, shared their thoughts with the visitors.
The specialists emphasized the importance of regular screening, early diagnosis, and patient support in relation to the treatment of breast cancer, emphasizing that every tenth woman is affected today. They also talked about the role of providing information about breast cancer and dispelling misconceptions.
Karolina Bodó, head of the Dragonboat Club of Szeged, reported on her experiences abroad, where she first met a dragon boat team of ladies who were breast cancer survivors. After the opening, those present and their family members could take to the water in a dragon boat, at the invitation of the club. An initiative has also been launched, in which women affected by breast cancer and their family members can go dragon boating twice a week, the Dragonboat Club of Szeged can provide further information on this.
The exhibition can be visited until May 22, 2024.
