Tram-train in Szeged runs more frequently from February
From February 4, 2023, tram-train services connecting Szeged and Hódmezővásárhely will run every 20 minutes during the morning and afternoon peak periods on working days. The previous major modification in the schedule was in August 2022, when the tram train finished its passenger traffic trial run period and started running every 30 minutes.
From February 4, 2023, the tram-train schedule on working days looks like this:
Starting from Szeged, the tram-train runs every 20 minutes
between 5:20 a.m. and 8:20 a.m.
and between 1:20 p.m. and 5:20 p.m.
In the other direction, starting from Hódmezővásárhely, it runs every 20 minutes
between 5:50 a.m. and 8:27 a.m.
and between 1:30 p.m. and 5:27 p.m.
Additionally, a tram-train will run between Szeged railway station and Szeged-Rókus, starting at 8:35 a.m. and 5:25 p.m. In the other direction, the new service will depart from Szeged-Rókus at 5:50 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. to Szeged railway station.
Due to the above changes, the schedule of passenger trains between Szeged and Békéscsaba did not have to be changed, they continue to depart at the usual time. In line with the changing tram train schedule, Volánbusz plans to slightly modify the departure times of some bus routes in the Hódmezővásárhely area to ensure better connections.
In Szeged, the tram-train serves as a tram and can be used with local public transport tickets and passes. For routes outside of Szeged train tickets are needed.
For a live schedule, use Google Maps or the MÁV application. Tickets are also available in the MÁV app.
