Szeged Contemporary Dance Company back from successful tour to Europe and USA
Szeged Contemporary Dance Company finished a successful tour of Belgium, the Baltic States, and the USA. The tour to foreign countries was planned before but had to be postponed due to the pandemic.
In October, the Szeged Contemporary Dance Company performed Carmina Burana and Wilds in Latvia in Riga and Ventspils, and in Lithuania in Vilnius and Kaunas. The group has not performed in these countries before, but their first tour was so successful that, based on the reception of the audience, the Baltics are expected to be a permanent tour destination for the group in the future.
In November, invited by the Liszt Institute, the dancers performed Carmina Burana in New York at the Ailey Theater. The Szeged Contemporary Dance Company's first guest performance in the United States was a firm success - the dancers received a standing ovation.
The Dance Company's performances in Belgium earlier this year were also successful and ended in a collaboration with Ballets.be. Director András Pataki said that they will start the next season with a guest performance abroad, in August they will present Carmina Burana in Spain, in Murcia, and Mallorca. The director sees that thanks to the recent tour, the number of performances abroad will expand even more in the next season.
