Pissarro: Father of Impressionism screening at Belvárosi Mozi

The Exhibition on Screen series continues at Belvárosi Mozi Szeged with the episode Pissarro: Father of Impressionism. The documentary will be screened on Monday, December 26, at 4 p.m.

"Born in the West Indies, Pissarro found his passion in paint as a young man in Paris, and by the age of 43 had corralled a group of enthusiastic artists into a new collective. Their first show was scorned by the critics, but the group had acquired a new name: the Impressionists. For the next 40 years Pissarro was the driving force behind what has today become the world’s favourite artistic movement." - exhibitiononscreen.com

The Ashmolean Museum - the UK's first public museum, opened in 1683 - houses a rich art collection, including the Pissarro archive, which is the most extensive archive of any Impressionist painter. Having exclusive access to the Pissarro collection, director David Bickerstaff and his team created a film that explores and highlights the hugely important biography and output of this incredible artist.
